Selected Works and Accomplishments

Selected Work and Accomplishments

My MA experience has included opportunities to contribute to collaborative research, develop my communication skills, and receive recognition that supported my education. The accomplishments highlighted here represent meaningful steps in my development and connect with my interests in human rights, public policy, and equitable access to opportunities.

CAPPP Conference Report: Connecting Research and Policy

As a graduate research assistant with the Canada and the Asia-Pacific Policy Project (CAPPP), I contributed to the conference report for Building Resilience: Canada’s Engagement with the Indo-Pacific on Non-Traditional Security Threats, held at Thompson Rivers University on October 10–11, 2025.

My contribution involved synthesizing conference discussions into a formal written report. This required careful attention to speakers’ perspectives, the identification of key themes, and clear communication of complex ideas. Working on a collaborative report strengthened my research synthesis, analytical writing, and knowledge translation skills.

This experience was meaningful because it connected academic learning with conversations about public policy. It broadened my understanding of human security and provided an opportunity to consider how research can contribute to discussions involving scholars, policymakers, and practitioners. It also reinforced my interest in pursuing work that connects human rights research with government policy.

Awards and Educational Support

During my master’s studies, I received the following awards and bursaries:

  • Indigenous Incentive Bursary
  • Indspire Building Brighter Futures Bursary
  • Indigenous Study Recognition Award

These awards provided meaningful support during my graduate education. As a Métis student, I value the opportunities they helped make possible and their place in my educational journey. They form part of the support that has enabled me to continue developing my research interests and working toward my academic and professional goals.

Student Awards Competition Finalist

In 2026, I was selected as a finalist in a student awards competition. This recognition was an encouraging milestone during my MA and is an accomplishment I am proud to include in my portfolio.

Building on These Experiences

Together, these experiences demonstrate different dimensions of my graduate journey: contributing to a collaborative research project, receiving support for my education, and earning finalist recognition. They encourage me to continue developing my skills and pursuing opportunities to connect research, communication, and human rights practice.
