My name is Natasha, and I am completing my Master of Arts in Human Rights and Social Justice at Thompson Rivers University. With a Bachelor of Education and an Associate of Arts concentrated in Political Science, I bring an interdisciplinary perspective to questions of equity, access, and human dignity.
My academic interests centre on how social, economic, and political structures shape people’s opportunities and experiences. My research examines organ trafficking and transplant tourism, particularly how poverty and unequal access to healthcare create conditions for exploitation. Through this work, I explore the relationships between human rights, structural violence, and the commodification of the human body.
Alongside my studies, my experiences in teaching, research, and an institutional Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion practicum have helped me connect academic ideas with practical responsibilities. These experiences have strengthened my skills in critical analysis, communication, and reflection, while encouraging me to consider how institutions can better respond to the communities they serve.
As I move toward completing my master’s degree, I hope to carry this learning into work that connects education, human rights, and healthcare. My long-term goal of becoming a physician is informed by an interest in equitable care and the social conditions that influence health.
This portfolio brings together selected work and reflections from my graduate studies. It documents my development as a researcher, educator, and advocate, and the questions and commitments that will guide my next steps.
